The splendor of Medieval Barcelona

A tour of Barcelona’s Old Town will let the students learn about some of the most splendorous periods of Barcelona history. The urban planning of the streets, the foundations of Catalan Gothic Art and also the reinvention of an artistic heritage at the 19th Century, “inventing the Gothic Quarter”, will be some of the highlights of the tour, which includes a visit to the Cathedral of Barcelona, its cloister, choir, museum and terraces.

The tour will continue around the neighborhood of La Ribera and to Santa Maria del Mar, to visualize the characteristics of Catalan austere art and to analyze the causes and consequences of the Mediterranean maritime expansion of the Catalans in the Middle Ages.
